What is Nano Banana API?
Nano Banana is a family of image-generation and editing models, not a single model ID. APIMaster currently lists four models in this family. Each has its own model ID, supported resolutions and channel pricing. Compare the options below, then call the Images API with your APIMaster key.
Nano Banana 2.1: text-to-image and reference-image editing at 1K, 2K or 4K, with up to 14 reference images and wide aspect ratios. Request one image at a time (n=1).

Which Nano Banana models are available?
Currently listed model IDs: gemini-nano-banana-2.1, gemini-3.1-flash-image, gemini-3-pro-image, gemini-2.5-flash-image. Select a model above; the quick-start example updates to match it.
Which Nano Banana model should I choose?
Try 2.1 for its 1K/2K/4K generation and editing workflow, 2 for 0.5K output or optional search grounding, and Pro for detailed creative work. Keep the original model for compatible 1K workflows. Compare current route prices and test your own prompts rather than assuming the newest model is always best.
Which endpoint do I call?
Use POST /v1/images/generations for text-to-image and POST /v1/images/edits for multipart reference-image editing. JSON generation requests can include image_urls. Use the Images API, not /chat/completions; see the model documentation for route-specific support.
How is billing calculated?
Billing is per image, with separate prices for each model, route and resolution. There is no single resolution multiplier shared by all Nano Banana models. Check the live price table and marketplace cards; your account's billing factors and usage logs determine the final charge.
Can I use reference images?
Yes. Use image_urls or upload files in the playground. The playground allows up to 14 reference images for 2, 2.1 and Pro, and up to 3 for the original model. Each uploaded file must be no larger than 10MB; route-specific limits may be lower.
Can every Nano Banana model generate 4K images?
No. Nano Banana 2, 2.1 and Pro have 4K pricing tiers; the original gemini-2.5-flash-image only has a 1K tier. The resolution selector changes with the selected model, and a particular channel may support fewer tiers.
How do I protect my API key and images?
Keep your API key on your server, not in a public frontend. Requests use encrypted connections. Data-handling policies depend on the selected upstream provider; review the applicable policy before submitting sensitive images.
