Google DeepMind announced Genie 4 on October 27, 2026, and has started a research preview for trusted testers. It is an interactive world model: you create an environment from text or an image, then explore and change it while it generates video and native audio. General availability has not been announced. Google says consumer and developer access will follow, starting with Google AI Ultra subscribers in Project Genie and early-access partners of the Gemini API and Google AI Studio.
As checked on October 29, 2026, Google has not published a public Genie 4 API price or request model ID in the announcement. Google's US-dollar plans page lists Ultra 5x at $99.99/month and Ultra 20x at $199.99/month. These are subscription prices for the whole plan, not Genie 4 usage prices or a guarantee of immediate access.
APIMaster currently has no public Genie 4 route. For teams that need generated video clips today, the separate Seedance 2.0 Mini alternative has 5 active routes from $0.0378/second at the 720P base profile, up to 50% off the marketplace's matching reference rate. Prices and route counts below were checked on October 29; the current marketplace card prevails. Video-clip APIs do not reproduce Genie's interactive worlds.
Prices in the following table are USD per generated second for the 720P base profile without reference-video input, except the unavailable Genie row. Reference rates come from the marketplace's matching official/reference price fields.
| Model ID | Official/reference price | Current APIMaster price | Active routes | Discount | Model card |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Genie 4 — public API ID unannounced | API price unannounced | No public route | 0 | Unknown | Check availability |
seedance-2.0-mini — video clips |

What is Genie 4?
Genie 4 is Google DeepMind's next generation of world simulation. A conventional video generator takes your prompt and returns a clip. A world model keeps producing the scene as you navigate: moving the camera changes what you see, and text instructions can change the environment during exploration.
Google's examples include changing the weather, introducing objects and people, exploring imagined places and bringing a historical photograph into a navigable scene. Genie 4 adds native sound, including ambient audio, music and interactive human dialogue. Google describes it as the first Genie world model to generate audio natively.
The announcement also describes improvements in visual realism, physical interactions and human movement. These are Google's demonstrations and claims, not results from our own comparative testing. Watch the official Genie 4 examples to judge the behavior that matters to your project.
Has Genie 4 been released?
It has been announced and entered a restricted research preview. It has not been announced as generally available. The October 27 announcement says rollout has started for trusted testers, with feedback collected before consumer and developer release.
That creates three distinct milestones:
| Milestone | Status on October 29, 2026 |
|---|---|
| Official announcement | Published October 27 |
| Research preview for trusted testers | Rolling out |
| Consumer access through Project Genie | Coming, starting with Google AI Ultra subscribers; no exact opening date announced |
| Gemini API and Google AI Studio access | Early-access partners named as an initial group; not a general public API launch |
An existing Project Genie subscription or an AI Studio account does not establish that Genie 4 is enabled on that account. Likewise, a demo video is evidence of a demonstrated capability, not proof that everybody can call it.
Who can use Genie 4, and how do you apply?
Trusted testers are the group Google says it has begun enabling. For other users, the announced consumer starting point is Google AI Ultra through Project Genie. For developers, Google names early-access partners of the Gemini API and Google AI Studio. It does not say that every API key holder has access.
Google links an official Genie 4 waitlist. You can apply and check the account-specific options in Project Genie or your partner communications. Joining a waitlist is not an access confirmation, and the announcement does not promise a public launch date.
Country and account eligibility still matter. Google's plans page says Project Genie is available in more than 140 countries with Ultra, but that describes the product's overall availability, not Genie 4's version rollout. Check the official regional eligibility information and the model offered in your own account before purchasing a plan for this feature. This overview does not assert a separate Genie 4 country list or guaranteed quota.
How much does Genie 4 cost?
There is no confirmed public Genie 4 API price in the sources checked for this article. A per-second API rate, a free tier and a Genie 4-specific session allowance remain unannounced in the launch post. That means its production operating cost cannot yet be calculated from a public rate card.
The related consumer subscription prices are published:
| Google plan | Listed USD monthly price | What it establishes about Genie 4 |
|---|---|---|
| Google AI Pro | $19.99 | Not the initial consumer group named in the Genie 4 announcement |
| Google AI Ultra 5x | $99.99 | Ultra is the announced starting consumer tier; access is still subject to rollout |
| Google AI Ultra 20x | $199.99 | A higher Ultra plan, not a published Genie 4 per-session or API rate |
These are the figures on Google's AI plans page checked October 29, 2026, not a local-currency quote. Checkout offers, taxes and region-specific pricing may differ. The plan's 5x/20x labels should not be converted into Genie 4 session quotas without product-specific documentation.
Is it expensive? Ultra is a meaningful monthly commitment if Genie is your only reason to subscribe. For experimentation, wait for your access eligibility to be clear. For a server-side video production budget, use the confirmed per-job rate of an available video API and keep Genie 4 as a separate pilot until its commercial terms are published.
Is there a Genie 4 API or an APIMaster upstream?
Google's announcement explicitly includes a future developer path through the Gemini API and AI Studio's early-access partners. It does not provide a generally available endpoint, public model ID or API pricing table. Do not build an integration around an assumed model: "genie-4" request.
APIMaster's live marketplace lookup returned zero public Genie 4 routes on October 29. A separate audit of our configured upstreams found no Genie listing in 242 successfully retrieved model catalogs; 20 other catalog checks were inconclusive. This does not prove that no private partner anywhere has access. It establishes that we do not currently have a verified upstream route to offer.
Before accepting an upstream's future Genie 4 claim, ask for the actual model documentation, access scope, session controls, output handling and billing unit. An ordinary video endpoint relabeled "Genie" would not establish support for a controllable world model.
What changed from Genie 3?
The clearest announced changes are native audio, more realistic worlds, improved physical interactions and human behavior, and richer interaction with the simulation. Google describes Gemini Omni helping ground appearance and behavior, and Gemini 3.8 Flash guiding multi-step simulations. The announcement also shows research involving agents and robotics.
Keep these research demonstrations separate from product guarantees. In particular, do not copy Genie 3's resolution, frame-rate or session-duration limits into a Genie 4 specification sheet. This overview does not claim a publicly documented maximum session length, output resolution or latency guarantee for Genie 4.
Google's model page adds a practical boundary: Genie 4 supports a few minutes of continuous interaction, rather than extended sessions. That is a qualitative product description, not a precise maximum or a public API service guarantee.
Where does Genie 4 fit in video production?
For creators, its strongest potential is previsualization: explore a location, test camera movement, adjust the weather or staging, and discover a shot before committing to final production. Historical-photo exploration, interactive storytelling and game-environment prototyping are also natural fits.
For a production pipeline distributed across several servers, the integration questions are more concrete: can jobs be queued, can sessions be resumed, how are assets exported, and what are the concurrency, licensing and retention terms? Google's announcement does not settle those public API details. An interactive browser demo alone does not establish a reliable batch-rendering service.
For a historical travel video, for example, use a world model to explore atmosphere and camera ideas. Keep exact route maps, place labels, dates, subtitles and final compositing in a controlled editing or rendering workflow. Google's own limitations include object and detail drift during longer exploration, complex physics, audio accuracy, readable text and spatial consistency. Synthetic scenes are not evidence that a historical location looked a particular way. Google says generated video and audio include SynthID.
If you gain access, the following are suggested evaluation prompts, not tested Genie 4 outputs:
- Historical establishing shot: "Use this licensed archival street photograph as visual inspiration. Explore a slow eye-level camera move, then change only the lighting from overcast to late afternoon. Keep the street layout stable." Check whether structures move or disappear.
- Scene continuity: "Walk around the red bicycle, turn away, then return to the starting viewpoint." Check object identity and layout after navigation.
- Audio and control: "Keep the camera still. Add light rain, then stop the rain and introduce distant conversation." Check whether audio follows the edit without unrelated visual changes.
Record usable takes, consistency failures, control latency and cost per usable output. We have not measured these values for Genie 4.
What can you use while waiting?
If your immediate goal is an exportable generated clip, inspect Seedance 2.0 Mini or Seedance 2.0 rather than waiting for an unannounced Genie API date. At the checked Mini 720P base rate, 10 generated seconds would cost $0.378 before any different input profile or extra charges; that is a clip-price illustration, not a Genie comparison.
To integrate an available alternative, register, create an API key, then use https://apimaster.ai/v1 with the documented video request workflow and a concrete model ID such as seedance-2.0-mini. Verify the current profile and model card first. An APIMaster account does not grant Google Project Genie or Genie 4 access.
FAQ
Is Genie 4 released or still a rumor?
It is officially announced, not a rumor. Google published the announcement on October 27, 2026, and says trusted-tester research preview rollout has started. General consumer and developer availability remains a later milestone.
Can I use Genie 4 with Google AI Ultra today?
Ultra is the announced initial consumer tier through Project Genie, but the launch post describes that broader access as upcoming. Check your account's actual model availability; a paid Ultra subscription alone is not proof of Genie 4 access.
Is Genie 4 free, and what is its API price?
No public Genie 4 free tier or API rate was announced in the sources checked October 29. Ultra plans are listed at $99.99/month and $199.99/month, which are whole-plan prices, not Genie 4 usage rates.
Does APIMaster have a Genie 4 API?
No verified public route was available on October 29, 2026. Our upstream catalog audit also did not find Genie in 242 successfully retrieved catalogs; 20 other checks were inconclusive. We do not advertise those results as proof about every private Google partner.
Is Genie 4 a replacement for a video generation API?
It targets interactive world simulation. It may be valuable for exploring scenes and shots, but a production clip API has different integration and export requirements. Evaluate those requirements when Genie 4's public developer documentation becomes available.
