GPT-6 Astra is available in the APIMaster marketplace as gpt-6-astra. On September 6, 2026, the lowest observed listed route cost $0.59372 per million input tokens and $2.9686 per million output tokens, approximately 94.06% below the standard $10/$50 reference. Price, quota, and availability can change; check the live card before paying or sending production traffic.

For the decisions after the launch, start with the community and API FAQ, follow the purchase and first-request tutorial, and use the route-verification guide before scaling.

Release status

Is GPT-6 released? Yes: OpenAI's API changelog records the GPT-6 Astra release on September 3, 2026. APIMaster published its availability announcement on September 5. These dates describe different access milestones. OpenAI changelog.

What about GPT-6 Sol? OpenAI has not announced it. Our GPT-6 Sol release, API and pricing tracker separates the current developer routing reports from confirmed Astra and GPT-5.6 Sol information.

Is it available through the API? OpenAI documents gpt-6-astra, and APIMaster's live route listing contains that model. An account still needs the appropriate provider access, key, and quota.

Is ChatGPT 6 available? ChatGPT Work documentation describes Astra in Work and Codex once available to your account; Enterprise access requires rollout eligibility and administrator enablement. This does not establish access for every ChatGPT user or a universal “ChatGPT 6” product label. Check your account's model picker and plan information; APIMaster API access does not grant a ChatGPT subscription entitlement.

What is GPT-6 Astra?

OpenAI presents Astra as a model for difficult reasoning, coding, research, computer use, and document work. Its model reference lists a 1,050,000-token context window, 128,000 maximum output tokens, text and image input, and text output. These are official model specifications; test the limits and features exposed by your chosen route separately.

OpenAI's model guidance describes multistep work across code, browsers, and professional software. These are vendor capability claims, not APIMaster's independent measurements. For your own pilot, define an observable deliverable: a corrected workbook, a tested code change, or a browser task with a known final state. Inspect that artifact rather than relying on the model's narration.

Coding, computer use, and tool support

A capable model needs an integration that can execute its tool requests. A plain chat call does not automatically provide a browser, desktop, file access, or deployment permissions. Configure those capabilities explicitly and test them on a small task before expanding access.

OpenAI's integration guidance says Astra tool calling requires the Responses API and documents reasoning effort from low through max. Confirm the route's endpoint and parameter support. Do not assume all OpenAI-compatible clients or gateways implement every model feature.

GPT-6 Astra API pricing

Checked September 6, 2026 Input / 1M tokens Output / 1M tokens
OpenAI standard short-context uncached reference $10 $50
APIMaster lowest observed listed route $0.59372 $2.9686

Sources: official API pricing and live APIMaster route data. Cache, long-context, tool, and processing charges can differ from this simple comparison. The current observed saving is approximately 94.06%; older 95% or up-to-96% snapshots are not a current quote.

Estimate cost from actual billed input and output, including retries. A lower price per token and fewer tokens per accepted task are separate benefits that need separate evidence. The FAQ's cost example shows the arithmetic without promising a fixed workload saving.

Verify the route before scaling

Currently fingerprint-tested GPT-6 Astra routes passed verification against the advertised model. A route without a completed verification record is unverified, not automatically failed or fraudulent. This statement refers to the listed records observed on September 6.

The model fingerprint tester and marketplace history support a route-specific behavioral check. A matching label alone cannot identify the underlying model, and a completed test is not a guarantee about every later request. Inspect the route, test time, and result, then run your own representative workload. Read the verification guide for a dated example and the Passed, Suspicious, and Incomplete states.

Start using the API

  1. Register and check the current GPT trial eligibility or add paid wallet funds.
  2. Select gpt-6-astra in the marketplace, then review route price, availability, quota, and history.
  3. Create an API key and follow the first-request tutorial.
  4. Inspect the answer, billed token usage, and remaining allowance before adding traffic.

The trial currently offers eligible accounts $20 of official-price GPT usage for 5 days, not discounted-route wallet credit. Account and community verification apply; follow the signed-in trial page. Current campaign configuration.

FAQ

Does API availability mean every ChatGPT account has Astra? No. API access and ChatGPT plan access are separate. Confirm availability in the account and product you intend to use.

Is the lowest listed price guaranteed for every route? No. Route prices and availability vary. Use the current marketplace card and your account's billing details.

Does a passed fingerprint record guarantee all future requests? No. It supports the tested route at the recorded time. Re-check after routing changes and before production rollout.
